Detailed description of Standing Stone Golf Club

Standing Stone Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, in the south-central part of the state.

Standing Stone Golf Club first opened for play in 1973. The course was designed by Geoffrey S. Cornish

Standing Stone Golf Club measures 6,593 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 120 and a 71.4 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels.

The course has a nice layout. The front nine is pretty much open with some water. Hole #8 is steeply uphill and #9 is long though downhill. There is some slope to deal with on the first five holes of the back nine. #14 is a par-3 with a 175 yard downhill shot into a large green well protected with bunkers. #15 and 16 have hidden water (look at your scorecards before attempting). Many consider #16 to be among the toughest holes they have ever played.

Blue tees: par-70, 6,593 yards, 71.4 /120

White tees: par-70, 6,175 yards, 69.1 / 118

Red tees: par-71, 5,288 yards, 71.0 / 120

Good course for design and staff. Worth the money. Would, and have played several times.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

This is a moderate course in difficulty and staffed by very nice people. The tee boxes need work as they have not been improved, benches, ball washers, hole signs, for some time-the ball washers are always dry! The staff treats people in a friendly manner. The price is right and no. 16 is a challenge.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

This is a GREAT course for the high handicap player. It's VERY flat, particularly on the front nine, and wide open. Very few trees or hazzards to contend with. The course really begins at number fifteen, a five hundred plus yard par five, with a large pond in front of the green. It's not reachable in two shots, unless you hit a three hundred plus yard drive from the regular tee. Sixteen is a four hundred plus yard par four with two water hazzards in the fairway that can be driven into from the regular tee. There are trees right and left and standing stone creek guards the left, particularly on the second shot. Miss the green, left, and you are in the creek. Seventeen is a mid distance par three with a pond in front of the green. Eighteen is a plus five hundred yard par five with trees and out-of bounds on the left. The price is right, particularly after 3:00 pm, but it's not much of a course

Would travel: 30 -60 miles
Bottom line: Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
